Ian Bushie

Ian Bushie is a proud member and former Chief of Hollow Water First Nation. Since 2019, he has been a dedicated representative for Keewatinook in the Manitoba Legislature, where he undertook significant roles as the NDP's Critic for Transportation and Infrastructure, as well as serving as the Deputy House Leader.
In 2021 and 2022, Ian took the initiative to introduce legislation to designate Orange Shirt Day as a statutory holiday in Manitoba, demonstrating his commitment to recognizing the importance of this day. In addition to his public service, he has maintained a small business within his home community for more than two decades.
Ian draws inspiration as a proud father to six children, and this motivates his ongoing efforts to enhance the well-being and quality of life for the people of northern Manitoba. Since 2023, Ian has been minister of municipal and northern relations, and minister of Indigenous economic development.
