Tracy Schmidt was elected as the MLA for Rossmere in 2023. She is a lawyer with a background in labour and employment law.
Prior to becoming an MLA, Schmidt worked as a labour relations officer for the Winnipeg Association of Public Services Officers. She also spent a decade working for Canada Post, where she was an active union member. Schmidt holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology and criminal justice from the University of Winnipeg and a law degree from the University of Manitoba, where she won the outstanding graduating student award in 2019. She has held board positions with the Manitoba Association for Rights and Liberties and the Community Unemployed Help Centre.
Schmidt is a life-long resident of Fraser’s Grove where she lives with her husband and their three children.
Schmidt was sworn in as Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Minister responsible for Efficiency Manitoba in 2023.
