Stefanson Will Cut Health Care and Education If She's Re-elected

Treaty 1 and Dakota Territory, Homeland of the Red River Métis, Winnipeg- The only way for Heather Stefanson to pay for her desperate election year promises is to cut health care and schools after the election, the Official Opposition said today. Since June first, the PCs have made nearly $2.5 billion in commitments in an attempt to distract Manitobans from their seven years of cuts.

“We know Brian Pallister and Heather Stefanson misled Manitobans seven years ago when they said they wouldn't cut the frontline services families rely on, ” said Nahanni Fontaine, NDP House Leader. “But then right after the election they closed three Emergency Rooms and urgent care centres and fired hundreds of nurses - and they are going to do it again” Fontaine added.

Since June 1st the Manitoba Government has publicly made up to over $2.5 billion dollars in spending commitments, many not part of Government’s most recent budget while wasting millions of taxpayer dollars on partisan political advertising.

“We know the only way Heather Stefanson can distract Manitobans from her failed record on health care and education is to try and pretend that she will reverse the cuts she’s made”, said Fontaine. “But the billions of empty promises can only be paid with more cuts to health care which leaves Manitobans asking: which ER will she close next? Will she close the Concordia Urgent Care? How many millions will she cut from the Pembina Trails School Division? The only way to stop the cuts is to vote out Heather Stefanson on October 3rd."
