Amanda Lathlin

Amanda achieved a historic milestone in 2015 by becoming the first First Nations woman elected to the Manitoba Legislative Assembly, representing The Pas. A lifelong resident of northern Manitoba, she was a devoted mother and a former band councillor. She was also the daughter of the late Honourable Oscar Lathlin, reflecting her deep roots and enduring connection to the region.

Amanda passed away in March 2026.

During her time in the legislature, Amanda played a key role in advancing legislation to extend paid leave for mothers recovering from miscarriages. She also successfully championed efforts to improve the quality of sexual assault care for residents in northern communities.

Amanda’s legacy is marked by her commitment to her community, her advocacy for women’s health, and her dedication to improving the lives of people across northern Manitoba.
